Needs Statement

Many healthcare providers equate dementia with Alzheimer's disease. Few understand or diagnose the full spectrum of causes for degenerative dementia. Ideally, a specific diagnosis can lead to improved care and future care planning as well as heighten surveillance for potential emergent comorbidities associated with specific forms of dementia.

Target Audience

Physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, nursing home administrators, home health providers, allied health providers, social workers, and other health care professionals who work with persons with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, you will be able to:

  1. Describe different treatment strategies for use across the spectrum of degenerative dementias;
  2. Apply AD assessment criteria to case studies of Alzheimer's disease.
