Needs Statement
This presentation aims to focus on current strategies to optimize oral antiplatelet agents in the treatment of ACS and PCI. Topics addressed include current limitations with clopidogrel, variability in response to clopidogrel and the clinical outcomes associated with poor response, and strategies to reduce variability. Finally, a comparison of the biologic response of prasugrel and clopidogrel is presented, along with an analysis of variability in response between these two agents.Target Audience
This activity is intended for interventional cardiologists, general cardiologists, internists and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients experiencing an acute coronary syndrome.Objectives
1. Describe current limitations and variability in patient response to clopidogrel and;2. Identify key differences in the biologic response of prasugrel when compared with clopidogrel.
